<As a general comment, I propose that the style of this be as much about questions as about answers. Often, especially with mathematics and models, one equation can start to look just like another. As much as all of this theory is interesting in its own right, it is all ultimately motivated by something - let's try to be explicit about what questions we are trying to answer with these entries, rather than providing copious amounts of static information. - john>
