  1. Turn on control workstation screen.
  2. Log into control workstation. If you don't have an account, ask someone who does to create one for you.
  3. Turn on all projectors. Double-click on the “CAVE On” icon. The projectors will take about a minute to warm up and show an image. The default image is the KeckCAVES logo on a white background on the walls, and a grid of one foot by one foot white tiles on the floor. If this doesn't work, refer to the troubleshooting section.
  4. Start a VR Application See starting a VR application.
  5. Turn on/off tracking devices:
    • Wand: The new CAVE wand is turned on by holding down the leftmost button on the top of the wand until the green LED light at the front of the wand comes on. To turn off the wand hold down both the left-most and right-most buttons on the top of the wand (be careful not to do this by mistake while working in the CAVE. The batteries in the charging station fit both the wand and the head tracker. The LED lights next to each battery charging slot, head tracker charging slot and wand charging slot indicate level of charge: fully charged (green), charging (orange) and empty (dark orange/red).
    • Head Tracker: The new CAVE head track is turned on by hold down the button in middle of the battery pack until both of the green LED lights on the top of the battery pack turn on. Usually the right LED turns on and starts blinking and the the left light turns on and both stay on. The batteries in the charging station fit both the wand and the head tracker. The LED lights next to each battery charging slot, head tracker charging slot and wand charging slot indicate level of charge: fully charged (green), charging (orange) and empty (dark orange/red).
  6. Gear up. Before stepping into the CAVE, firmly attach the head tracker's belt clip to some piece of clothing (or put it in a pocket), carefully unfold and put on the stereo glasses, and grab the CAVE wand. It will take a few seconds until the tracking system locks onto the head tracker and the image appears correctly. Look for the orange LED on the left. If the image doesn't appear correctly, see the troubleshooting section.
