Frontend and NAS servers
Tribe shipped with three NAS servers. One is used as a frontend that sits between the internet and the compute nodes.
Hardware
The hardware of each of these systems is identical. Here are the specs:
Motherboard
The motherboard is a TYAN Thunder K8WE S2895.
The bios currently installed is from Phoenix Technologies version 2004Q3 Released 2006-03-14.
CPUs
There are two dual-core AMD Opteron 265. These operate at 1.8Ghz and use socket 940.
Memory
There are four 1GB ECC dimms.
RAID Card
There is a single Areca ARC-1260 PCI-express 16-port RAID card. All 16 disks are attached through this card. It is currently running version 1.44 of the firmware, BIOS and boot software.
